Greater Rochester Regional
Odyssey of the Mind

Welcome to the Greater Rochester Region of the Odyssey of the Mind program, served by an independent regional board composed entirely of volunteers within our area. We hope you find useful information here regarding our program and how we deliver CCI's Odyssey of the Mind activities for our area, Region 14 in New York.

Odyssey of the Mind is a creative problem-solving competition open to all students in grades K-12. Known as OMers, our participants have fun while building valuable skills like teamwork, critical thinking, communication, and creativity.

Our regional tournament is held in the spring of each year, with teams advancing to the state competition, and often also qualifying for CCI's World Finals. Our website includes information regarding our calendar for the competition season, how to register, contacts for the program in the region and the participating school districts, and other relevant website links. You can even take a look at the results of previous regional competitions.

Questions and comments about the program can be directed to our regional directors, Heather Campo and Jodi Antin.

We are looking forward to another great, creative year!

Announcements

Design a sticker for this year's Region 14 Tournament! The winning design will be used on high-quality stickers given to every participant at the tournament and used as the image on the cover of the tournament program. Share your creativity with your Odyssey peers!

All designs due no later than December 20.

Each year, we offer a workshop to help team members and their coaches hone their creative problem-solving skills. This workshop focuses on skills and techniques for solving Spontaneous problems. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in spending some 'quality time' perfecting skills for successfully completing spontaneous problems during competition.  The workshop is open to program participants and adults (coaches, officials, etc.). It's a great way for coaches and officials to pick up some information and participate in the program.

This year, our spontaneous workshop will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025 from 9am-1pm at Rogers Middle School. Come as a team or individually!

High school seniors – we are accepting applications for the 2025 Julie Ryan Memorial Scholarship. Any local high school senior who is currently participating in Odyssey of the Mind, or who has participated in the past, is eligible to apply. This $250 scholarship will be presented during the awards ceremony at the tournament March 8.

Odyssey of the Mind was a big part of Julie Ryan’s life, and we are asking applicants to create something based on the theme, “What the Odyssey of the Mind program has meant to my life.” The format is completely up to you – be as creative as you’d like! Deadline to apply is February 14.

Region 14 is proud to be the first region in New York State to pilot the new Odyssey Inclusive program!
